From start to finish, that dog made me a better man: From the Washington Post

So, here’s the deal.  If you’re not in the mood to be or get emotional, you might save this read for another day.  But it is a great read by a Washington Post reporter that had a pretty special relationship with his dog – when he wasn’t paying attention.

I think this is a great example of how dogs touch us and how we all have our own relationships with our pets.  Many of those relationship are different even within a family.  This story shows that.  And it proves that we can all have our own real and meaningful relationships with our pets and with each other – even when no one is looking.

I didn’t want the dog in the first place. I thought she’d be too much work.

That’s a typical response for me. Practical. Utilitarian. What’s the cost-benefit ratio?

My wife and son, then in second grade, persisted. They outvoted me……
